We have service projects both big and small.

From Done-in-a-Day volunteering time and supplies to larger events like our annual Film Festival.

Works to Support H.E.A.T. Watch

What is HEAT Watch?

HEAT (Human Exploitation and Trafficking) Watch is a nationally recognized, award-winning program created by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office to combat human trafficking on a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, and regional basis. HEAT Watch seeks to prevent and combat human trafficking in all of its forms with a five point strategy designed to support victims and those at-risk; engage community members and raise awareness; train law enforcement and other first responders; prosecute traffickers and purchasers; and change legislative policy and identify best practices.

United States Senator Diane Feinstein stated “HEAT Watch is a one of a kind program that takes a comprehensive approach to dealing with a crime that victimizes some of the most vulnerable members of our society.”

United States Congresswoman Jackie Speier declared “HEAT Watch is the national gold standard,” and urged that it be replicated throughout the region."

Zonta Service to Our Community

Our service projects consist of volunteering time, in-kind donations, sponsorships and fundraising for local groups. Some of those we have worked with include:

Preparation and serving of Sunday brunch for homeless women at the Berkeley women’s shelter

Collection of household supplies for women living at Elizabeth House in Oakland –a cooperative housing program for women and their children who are homeless due to violence and addiction

Financial support for the Chabot Space & Science Center’s Techbridge Program – an afterschool math, science and engineering program for local middle school girls

Distribution of books about Bessie Coleman, an early African-American pilot, to classroom teachers and librarians around the East and North Bay. This unique service project helped “get the word out” about women in aviation and offers a positive role model for young girls in our community.
