All proceeds go to helping women by promoting the work of H.E.A.T. Watch with their efforts to combat human trafficking and also contribute to Zonta International's mission to promote girls education, scholarships and end childhood marriage.

The LUNAFEST is national traveling film festival, established in 2000 by LUNA Bar (part of Clif Bar & Company) spotlights the work of diverse, talented women filmmakers with intelligent, funny and thought-provoking short films. For 24 hours you can stream the seven short films. You can start, rewind and replay the films all from the comfort of your home!

Each year we donate proceeds from our LUNAFEST to an organization that works to improve the lives of women and girls. This year we are again working with Alameda County H.E.A.T. Watch. It is a nationally recognized, award-winning program created to combat human exploitation and trafficking. The program has developed guidelines that are used throughout the United States. Its five point strategy is to support victims, engage community members and raise awareness, train law enforcement and first responders, prosecute traffickers and purchasers, and change legislative policy.

We as Bay Area Zontians find the H.E.A.T. Watch organization a very worthy group to support. Especially loaded with the knowledge that in the state of California, three of the ten most heavily human trafficked areas in the U.S. are in our state: San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. Since the largest percentage of trafficked people are women, this is a way we can bring awareness to the issue of human trafficking and advocate to end violence against women and girls.

H.E.A.T. Watch works to combat human trafficking. Human trafficking is a growing crime business second only to drug trafficking .
​
The Zonta Film Festival by LUNAFEST also helps to provide scholarship funds to Zonta International Foundation and our local club. Zonta International (ZI) has a presence in 63 countries around the world with volunteers working through service and advocacy to empower women. Our club, the Zonta Club of Berkeley/North Bay is a chapter of ZI chartered in 1936.
We all volunteer to work to support women globally and locally. For many years we have been presenting awards to local outstanding young women with our Young Women in Public Affairs award. Your participation in the LUNAFEST also helps these young women achieve their dreams.
